FAQ's

How do I know If counselling is right for me?

You are the expert of yourself and I believe you will know if counselling is right for you. Counselling can work for everyone, but it's important to find the right counsellor. You can trust your own sense of whether the relationship feels comfortable and supportive.

How do I know if I need Counselling?

Counselling sessions can help you to gain clarity on any issues, change old patterns, untangle complex personal issues, or embark on a journey of self development. You may seek counselling as a result of a crisis, or you may be encouraged to seek counselling by family members, friends or colleagues. But ultimately only you can make the decision if counselling is right for you.

What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?

Feeling nervous is completely normal - most clients feel this way at the beginning. My role is to help you feel safe, supported and understood from the moment we start. We go at your pace, and there’s no expectation to share everything at once.

What if I don’t know what to talk about in therapy?

This is more common than you might think. You don’t need to prepare or have everything worked out. I’ll guide our conversation through gentle questions, helping you explore whatever feels important in the moment.

What happens in a counselling session?

I provide a safe environment to allow you to explore your issues. I am highly trained in listening and reflecting. With most types of therapy you are free to discuss what you wish, from everyday events, dilemmas, feelings, and thoughts, to regrets, aspirations, memories and dreams.

In our first session, we'll talk about  your goals, challenges, and how we can work together to support your mental health journey. It's a chance for you to ask questions and get a feel for how therapy will work.

Can I speak to the counsellor before I commit to sessions?

Yes lets set up a free 20min initial consultation to discuss your situation. Using the contact form below or click the Contact Tasha button to email me directly. As soon as I receive your email il be back in touch.

What happens in the free 20-minute consultation?

This is an informal chat where we explore what’s brought you to therapy, what you’d like support with, and whether we feel like a good fit. There’s no pressure to commit — it’s simply a safe space to ask questions and get a feel for how I work.

Counselling through Aviva and Vitality insurance (Vitality: £25 additional fee per session)

These services support clients with anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, low self-esteem, neurodivergence, life changes, and personal growth.

What is the difference between the services you offer?

I offer three distinct types of support:

Counselling: A therapeutic, person-centred service focused on emotional processing, self-exploration and working through challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and low self-esteem.

Confidence Coaching: A structured 6-week programme for individuals who want to develop confidence, clarity and personal growth after completing their healing work. Includes a workbook and check-ins.

Specialist Student Mentoring: Practical and emotional support for students who need help with organisation, focus, motivation, overwhelm, and academic/life balance. This combines elements of coaching with a therapeutic approach.

Each service is designed to meet different needs, depending on your goals and stage of personal development.

Which service is right for me?

This depends on where you are in your journey.

If you want emotional support, healing, and a safe space to explore your feelings, counselling is usually the best fit.

If you’ve already done the healing work and now want to build confidence, clarity and direction, my 6-week Confidence Coaching Programme is ideal.

If you’re a student needing both emotional support and practical tools to stay organised, focused and motivated, Specialist Student Mentoring may be the most helpful.

If you’re unsure, we can explore this together in your free 20-minute consultation.

Can I switch between services later?

Yes - absolutely. Your needs may change as you grow, and you’re always welcome to move between counselling, coaching and mentoring. We’ll review things together to make sure you’re getting the support that feels right for you.

What happens if I miss a session?

A session missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged in at £30.

How long is the wait time for sessions?

I have availability at the moment. It really depends on your situation and how soon you want to start. I will respond to enquires and messages within 24hours. If an agreement is made and you are happy to go ahead we could be working together within a matter of weeks.
