Hello, and welcome! My name is Natasha Roe, and I’m a MBACP registered counsellor—though most people call me Tasha. It felt only right to name my business TherapywithTasha, as it’s a name I’m comfortable with and one that truly reflects who I am.
I like to think of myself as the relatable counsellor—someone who’s easy to talk to, approachable, and truly understands that therapy isn’t just for the ‘serious’ or ‘stoic.’ I believe therapy should feel comfortable and real, and that’s exactly what I strive to offer.
Professional Counselling Training & Qualifications
I’m a happy-go-lucky kind of person who loves connecting with others. As a proud Leo, I’m passionate, energetic, and always up for a good conversation. You could probably guess that I’m into astrology—I find that horoscopes often resonate with me, and I love reading them for fun!
When I’m not counselling, you’ll probably find me enjoying music—something I often call “my kind of therapy.” Music has always been an important part of my life, and I believe it has the power to heal and uplift.
You’ll also find me on TikTok, where I go by the name @TashaTheRelatableCounsellor. On there, I share snippets of advice, tips on mental well-being, and some real talk about therapy. I aim to make mental health discussions more accessible, fun, and relatable for everyone.
At the heart of it all, I’m an honest, kind, caring, and loving person who genuinely wants the best for everyone I meet. That’s why I became a counsellor: to offer the support, understanding, and compassion that people need to live their best lives.
I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, but I want you to know that I’m here to guide you with empathy, honesty, and care every step of the way. My approach is rooted in a deep belief in your potential for healing, growth, and positive change—and I’d be honoured to walk that journey with you.
If you’re ready to take the next step, or simply want to have a chat to see if I’m the right fit for you, feel free to get in touch.
What I Like to Do in My Spare Time
As you’ve probably gathered from my website, I have a deep love for nature. I find so much peace and joy in walking outdoors, especially capturing the beauty of the changing seasons. I truly believe there’s something healing about connecting with nature, and it’s one of my favourite ways to recharge.
A big part of my love for the outdoors comes from my Scottish heritage. I’m half Scottish (on my dad’s side), and I feel a special connection to the country every time I visit. I absolutely adore everything about Scotland—its landscapes, its people, and the rich history. Despite the cold (and similar to Manchester!), I look forward to visiting in Autumn and Winter to experience the changing seasons and the fresh air.
Alongside my love for nature, I also have a dog named Menace—and yes, he lives up to his name! Menace is my fur baby; he’s full of energy, and we both love our walks. Whether I’m exploring the hills of Scotland or just strolling around my local area, he’s my constant companion.
When I’m not out walking or travelling, I’m always eager to try new foods. I have a real passion for exploring different restaurants, especially with friends. I believe that sharing a good meal is one of the best ways to connect with people, and it’s something I really enjoy. It’s all about the experience—good food, good company, and good conversation.
While I enjoy travelling abroad and discovering new places, Scotland will always have a special place in my heart. It’s a place where I truly feel connected to my roots, and no matter how many places I visit, I always feel at home there.
Volunteering and Giving Back
In addition to my counselling work, I’m deeply passionate about volunteering and supporting my local community. I currently volunteer as a Befriender for Being There Salford, a charity dedicated to providing emotional support and practical assistance to individuals affected by cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families, friends, and carers. You can learn more about their incredible work here.
In my role as a Befriender, I have the privilege of visiting clients on a weekly basis, offering a listening ear, and providing emotional support. It’s not just about offering advice; it’s about being present—listening to my clients' concerns, helping them feel heard, and ensuring they know they’re not alone in what they’re going through. This connection can help reduce anxiety, promote well-being, and foster a sense of support and belonging.
I find this work incredibly rewarding. Spending time with my clients and knowing that they appreciate our conversations brings me a deep sense of fulfilment. It’s humbling to see how meaningful these visits can be, and I truly believe in the power of simply being there for someone when they need it most.
Let’s Talk About the Therapist Behind the Therapy
The funny thing is, I didn’t realise I wanted to become a counsellor until I had counselling myself. There was a time in my life when I was struggling on so many levels—anxiety, depression, and a deep sense of being lost. On top of that, I developed compulsive behaviours as a way to escape my problems. It was my way of coping, but in the end, it only became another problem to add to the pile.
I decided to seek counselling to address my compulsive nature, and it was during this process that I discovered something truly life-changing: I felt safe and free from judgement. For the first time, I had the space to speak openly, to unpick the issues that had been weighing me down for so long. It was in that space that I realised the common theme running through my life—I felt stuck. I had no confidence to make changes, and despite desperately wanting to move forward, I was crippled by fear.
One of the key realisations for me was that my anxiety had kept me in a job that was comfortable but unfulfilling. It was all I knew, and the thought of change terrified me. But my therapist challenged me in a way that, looking back, I am incredibly grateful for. She simply asked, “What is going to change?”
That question sparked a flood of ideas. I could go back to studying. I could look for a new job. I could update my CV. For the first time in a long time, I felt empowered. I decided to take it one step at a time, breaking down the process of change into manageable pieces. The ideas and actions finally came together, and I began to take those first steps towards a new direction.
It was this experience that ultimately inspired me to become a counsellor. I wanted to help others find that same space—where they could feel heard, safe, and supported as they work through their own challenges. Just as I once felt lost, I now want to offer a path for others to find their way.
Becoming a Person-Centred Counsellor
While having counselling, I began to realise that what I needed most was structure. Up until that point, I had struggled with feeling overwhelmed and would often put things off, simply because I didn’t know how to break tasks down or where to start. The combination of counselling and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) helped me understand that to make meaningful change, I needed to simplify things. I learnt that taking things one step at a time was key to moving forward.
So, I created a simple, four-step process to help me navigate the changes I needed to make in my life.
Step One was to visit the community centre and work on my CV.
Step Two was to apply for jobs at the local job club.
Step Three was attending the open evening for new upcoming courses.
Step Four was the day I signed up for the Introduction to Counselling Course.
I never expected to become a counsellor, but those six weeks of learning the basics of counselling opened my eyes. For the first time, I felt invested. I felt like I had found my calling—something I could truly be passionate about. It was a life-changing moment, and I knew I wanted to help others in the same way I had been helped.
After completing my studies, I began working with clients during the latter part of the Covid pandemic, which was both challenging and rewarding. The feeling I get from helping others is indescribable. I’ve seen firsthand how counselling can help individuals transform their lives, and that has become my mission. I will always be grateful to my therapist for providing the support I needed when I felt lost. Counselling gave me both purpose and confidence, and now, I’m committed to giving that same support to others.
